Kian is a really sweet and sensitive kid.
He leaves "surprises" for me all of the time. The other night when I was going to sleep, I saw that he raided the candy drawer and left a pattern of heart-shaped candies on my phone. He often also makes "treasure hunts" for me and hides his pictures or rocks or other types of toys for me at the end of them. Darian has recently started catching on by coloring hearts and other pictures for us to see when we get home. Kian's inspiration, I must admit, was his dad who surprised me with some boots in December with a little treasure hunt. I'm lucky to live with such sweet boys.

Haircut and a date
So it is a joke between Jeff and I that everytime I leave the house (or go away) one of the boys (or all of them) get a haircut. So true to form, Jeff gave Kian a haircut when I was with the young women on Tuesday night. He looked great so I didn't complain.
I also took Kian for a haircut on Saturday before our big date. Kian went for his first ski lesson with his dad and Darian and I went to get a haircut and then went on a date to the Nickelcade.
He loved it. He especially seemed to really like the air hockey. Funny though, he thought that when the puck went into the hole in front of him that he scored not me. So he was extremely pleased when I beat him 7-2.

Lesson Time and Soccer
These days Kian is learning how to read. Lesson time includes, depending on Kian's mood, a bit of whining, slight excitement (because everytime he reads a sentence he gets a candy/fruit snack), or eagerness to finish his lesson so he can do whatever activity I've promised him after he finishes his lesson. He's actually getting very good at reading. He reads one page stories and is able to write quite a bit. He's also learning adding and subtracting (though he doesn't love the subtracting). Darian usually hides behind the fridge during the lesson or plays on my phone.
Kian also had his first season of "futsol" (indoor soccer) this year. He actually really loved it and was pretty good. In my favorite moment of the season, in his last game, he helped the Timpanogas team beat Wasatch by scoring two goals. One of them, I must admit was awesome. The first one he just snuck into the goal while he was in the goal box. I almost thought it shouldn't count (and trying to not be "one of those soccer moms" made a comment to a Wasatch dad sitting next to me that maybe that shouldn't even have counted. The second goal though, was awesome. He took the ball from the other side of the court and dribbled it all the way to the goal and shot it straight in. I tried to not go crazy but I was so proud. Darian and Lucia are really cute when watching too--they take turns cheering for Kian and Cyra.
Wrestling time
This is a very typical scene at our house. The boys wrestling/fighting/being sweet with each other. Usually a combination of all of the above. When Jeff is home the boys don't want to do anything but wrestle around or get thrown on our bed. This morning we played the shark game. This consists of one of us being a "bad shark" and walking around on four legs chasing the others around and then pretend biting until eventually someone gets hurt and cries and we stop.
Scissors
Darian is obsessed with scissors at this stage in life. It's gotten so bad that all of the scissors are now hidden in places where he can't reach. He's lost all of the childproof scissors and is now taking to knives. He only gets plastic ones but that seems to satisfy him most of the time.
