Spring Soccer

Both boys are playing soccer for the first time this year.

Darian is so aggressive. He's definitely not concerned about being a ball hog. He scored a goal in his first game.

Disneyland

We went to Disneyland expecting the worst (crowds, tantrums, etc) and ended up having a great trip. The kids loved it and so did we (man is splash mountain still fun).

Hard to see but look at Kian's stone cold expression on splash mountain. What a tough cookie.

The parade!

Easter fun

This year we did three Easter egg hunts. One with Robison cousins, one with Baradaran cousins and one with the neighborhood kids.

Robison cousins at Jill's house

The best part is that I hid darian's eggs in very obvious spots so he wouldn't have to walk around on his bad foot. It made him feel really special that he found all of his eggs first.

Darian fractures his toe

In our third major injury of the year (kian: tonsils, Jeff: fractured collar bone), Darian fractured his toe wrestling with his dad and brother.

Jeff kian and darian are always wrestling and usually it ends with someone crying or getting angry but this is the first real casualty.

Luckily, he will be just fine.

I'm trying to avoid being the annoying mom who reminds their kids 5 times a day to do everything. So the other day I made a checklist. Kian (like his dad) responded quite well to this.

We got chicks for Spring!

The boys are doing a great job feeding them and changing their water.

Darian was nervous to pick them up at first but now he is no longer scared he will kill them. He said he hopes they follow him around like he is their dad.

And the annual picking of money from the Koran. 5 dollars this year! Jared was feeling generous.

Kian turns 7!

Darian: our little photographer

This is a picture of Kian's new piano teacher tuning our piano. He says Kian is one of his most interested students. He will sit and learn for an hour or more each time. He is learning music by ear.

Darian has stolen the camera and is taking pictures while playing with a friend from preschool

Winter Playing with cousins

Darian started doing this funny pose when he wants things. We call it the head tilt. It started when we went to Gurus and he needed change for a dollar. We told him to go ask nicely and he did this funny headtilt thing.

Kian gets his tonsils out: January 12, 2012

So Kian's tonsils have always been large, but he got sick in December and they grew even bigger. So we decided to get them out so he can breathe easier and stop snoring.

Kian was such a brave kid at the surgery. He didn't cry or complain and the nurse said that when he woke up right after the surgery and they removed the tube from his mouth, the first thing he said was: "thanks for taking such good care of me"

The doctor said he had the biggest tonsils of 2012 (and he does about 30 of these a day) so we felt pretty good about that.

The only upside of this procedure to Kian is that he gets to drink slushees, soda and Gatorade as much as he wants for the next two weeks.

Darian ( our budding photographer) at Kian's first futsol game

Kian started Indoor soccer ( futsol) in January. He plays with second graders who are twice his size, but can hold his own. He really loves playing and is very competitive. He actually keeps track of the score of each game even though it is not announced and no one else is counting.

Trying really hard to not go soccer-mom
