Kian gets his tonsils out: January 12, 2012

So Kian's tonsils have always been large, but he got sick in December and they grew even bigger. So we decided to get them out so he can breathe easier and stop snoring.

Kian was such a brave kid at the surgery. He didn't cry or complain and the nurse said that when he woke up right after the surgery and they removed the tube from his mouth, the first thing he said was: "thanks for taking such good care of me"

The doctor said he had the biggest tonsils of 2012 (and he does about 30 of these a day) so we felt pretty good about that.

The only upside of this procedure to Kian is that he gets to drink slushees, soda and Gatorade as much as he wants for the next two weeks.

Darian ( our budding photographer) at Kian's first futsol game

Kian started Indoor soccer ( futsol) in January. He plays with second graders who are twice his size, but can hold his own. He really loves playing and is very competitive. He actually keeps track of the score of each game even though it is not announced and no one else is counting.

Trying really hard to not go soccer-mom

Darian Christmas concert

Darian performed very well at his preschool Christmas concert this year. He knew all of the words of the songs, sang loudly and hogged the mic. We were so proud.

Patsy's Party 2011

A friend who stayed at 420 in East Harlem flies to NYC every year and brings back 30 boxes of Patsy's Pizza. This happens to be kian's favorite pizza so we went to the party this year. It was amazing.

Date with Darian

Darian and I enjoyed some alone time at the Nickelcade. We had a lot of fun on our date.

Pre-Christmas

We went to watch the muppets with the kids before Christmas, saw Santa and enjoyed some Christmas cheer...

Thanksgiving 2011

We did a pre-thanksgiving feast at our house with the Baradarans. Key ingredient for the day (and next two months): Costco pumpkin pie.

Then the real deal with the people who know how it's done--the Robisons.
